McDONALD’S DRIVER BOURDAIS SET FASTEST RACE LAP ON DAY 2 OF TESTING AT SEBRING INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY; RAHAL CONTINUES TO PROGRESS

SEBRING, Fla. (January 24, 2007) – Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing continued their pre-season testing program at Sebring International Raceway today and completed the second of a three day test in preparation for the 2007 Champ Car World Series season. McDonald’s driver Sebastien Bourdais and Graham Rahal were sidelined with downshifting problems part of the day but came back to improve their best lap time.

“I had gearbox trouble this morning,” said Bourdais who again set the fastest lap of the day with a 50.888 of a total of 56 laps. “The car wouldn’t downshift. We fixed the problem but lost a good part of the day. Hopefully we can run a full day tomorrow and continue to make progress.”

“It was a productive day,” said Rahal, who ran a total of 74 laps over the two sessions with a fast lap time of 51.631 to end the day ranked seventh overall. “Unfortunately we didn’t get clear laps when we were on new tires so we didn’t improve our time as much as we could have but we ran fairly well on old tires. We’re getting closer, building up on it. This car is a lot different than anything else I have driven so we are making steady progress.”

The 2007 Champ Car World Series season begins on April 6-8 with the Vegas Grand Prix. The series will hold tests in Houston in February and Laguna Seca in March.
