McDONALD'S® DRIVER BOURDAIS SECOND FAST ON DAY 1 OF SPRING TRAINING TEST AT THE MAZDA RACEWAY AT LAGUNA SECA; RAHAL SIXTH

1st: Paul Tracy 1:06.707
2nd: Sebastien Bourdais 1.06:737
6th: Graham Rahal 1.07.243

Sebastien Bourdais, No. 1 McDonald’s Cosworth/Panoz/Bridgestone: “We didn’t get as much done as we would have liked because we had an engine problem this morning and two gearbox problems today and the parts aren’t available. We could try a few things but we still have quite a bit of work to do. I’m not unhappy with the car; it’s consistent and pretty well balanced. It’s enjoyable to drive and pretty stuck to the ground. We weren’t able to gain much on new tires which is a little weird though. We have a lot of work to do tomorrow and since it is the final day of testing before the season we are hopeful to get a lot done.”

Graham Rahal, test driver of the No. 2 Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing Cosworth/Panoz/Bridgestone: “Not only did we accomplish all we hoped to but we are actually a little ahead of schedule. We made a long run and it went well. The car was really consistent and was better than expected. We were a couple of seconds faster (on our lap times) than we started. We were not going for a quick time in the afternoon but even so we are pretty happy with the times.”

ON THE SCHEDULE TOMORROW: The second and final day of testing will resume tomorrow with on-track sessions taking place from 8:30-12 and 12:45-4 PT. The 2007 season-opening Vegas Grand Prix will take place April 6-8 and will be televised on NBC.
